Children are large and special group of patients. Developing proper and acceptable paediatric dosage form is the extremely important condition of e ective pharmacotherapy in infants and children. Despite the variety of formulations number of active substances is unavailable in a suitable form because they occur as tablets and capsules, thus they are inappropriate formulations for children. The most appropriate dosage forms for children are liquid formulations. In this article paediatric dosage forms are reviewed, the problem of dosage and administration of medicines in children and the methods of taste masking are discussed, the problem of availability of drug products and also possible solutions are highlighted.
