The goal of the safe and efficient pharmacotherapy can be increasingly achieved by means of dosage forms with desired technological and biopharmaceutical properties · The appliance of dosage forms of selected, modified drug release characteristics enables improvement of the bioavailability of the drug substance by simultaneous reduction of the side effects. In the manuscript introduced were selected aspects of the basic concepts of technological construction of solid oral formulations with modified release characteristics. Thus were coating, incorporation of the drug substance into matrices and changes of the form of the active ingredients. Moreover, orodispersible formulations were shortly described.
