2009-09-15
Telomerse inhibitors as potential anticancer drugs. The most important problem in pathophysiology of cancer is immortality of cells. Mechanisms of chromosome ends elongation are responsible for this phenomenon. In most of cancer cells ends of chromosome are growing longer by enzyme - telomerase. The main purpose of this paper is a review of known methods inhibiting telomerase activity, especially by stabilization of G - quadruplex. Keywords: cancer cells, immortality, telomerase, G - quadruplex, anthraquinone.
