Glaucoma - patophysiology and treatment. Part 1. Patophysiology of glaucoma and general rules of pharmacotherapy. Glaucoma is a group of diseases with different etiology and pathomechanism. They all lead to optic nerve damage with typical optic disc morphologic changes and characteristic visual field defect. In this article we present pathophysiology of optic nerve glaucomatous damage, different types of disease and general treatment rules with antiglaucomatous drugs.
