Allergic rhinitis - symptoms, pathomechanism, diagnostics and treatment. Allergic rhinitis is the most often prevalent allergic diseases. The paper focused on the symptomatoplogy, mechanisms, diagnostic and treatment of allergic rhinitis. Allergic inflammation is usually not limited to the nasal cavity therefore co-morbidity with bronchial asthma, conjunctivitis and sinusitis is not rare. The most effective methods of treatment in allergic patients are allergen avoidance, antihistamine drugs, corticosteroids treatment and immunotherapy. The place of other drugs like cromones, sympathicomimetics, antileucotrienes and anti-IgE antibody are also discussed.

Alergiczny nieżyt nosa jest najczęściej występująca chorobą alergiczną. W pracy omówiono charakterystyczne objawy, patomechanizm, diagnostykę i leczenie. Proces zapalny charakterystyczny dla tego schorzenie nie zawsze dotyczy jedynie jamy nosowej, toteż częste jest współwystępowanie alergicznego nieżytu nosa z astmą oskrzelową, zapaleniem spojówek i zapaleniem zatok. Do najbardziej efektywnych sposobów leczenia należą: unikanie ekspozycji na alergeny, stosowanie leków przeciwhistaminowych i kortykosteroidów oraz immunoterapia swoista. Omówiono również pozostałe metody leczenia jak: kromony, sympatykomimetyki, leki antyleukotrienowe, przeciwciało anty-IgE.
