The polyacrylic acid polymers as modern auxiliary applied in the manufacturing of the pharmaceutical products administered to the skin, suspensions and the bioadhesive forms of a drug with prolonged activity. The synthesis and selected physicochemical properties of polyacrylic acid polymers of Carbopol, Novenon and Pemulen type have been discussed as well as their application as auxiliary substances for manufacturing market pharmaceutical products: hydro- and emulgels, oral solid forms of a drug with prolonged activity, bio- and mucoadhesive formulations and suspensions.
