Clay minerals in pharmacy, pelotherapy and cosmetology. Clay minerals have been used in human life for ages. Despite being more often recognized as materials for technical ceramics production they are present in many substances of everyday life. Some of them are also known as the minerals of thousand applications due to their multi-functional usefulness. Among the others, pharmacy/medicine seems to be the most demanding field of applications as the products intended for use in the preparation of medicines must fulfil a number of requirements regarding safety, stability and high chemical inertia. Other physical properties can also be of importance, for example, taste and colour affecting acceptance by the patients, or texture and water content affecting technical processes.
