Oksyetylenowany cholesterol jako składnik modelowych płynów akceptorowych w ocenie dostępności farmaceutycznej lipofilowych środków leczniczych
2007-07-26

Oxyethylated cholesterol as an ingredient of model acceptor fluids in the assessment of the pharmaceutical availability of lipophilic therapeutic agents. The appropriate pharmaceutical availability, i.e. the amount and the rate of release of the therapeutic agent from a given dosage form, and its passage to a solution, is the first pharmacokinetic process occurring in the organism after administering the drug. It is also a pre-requisite for the occurrence of the next stages, namely adsorption, distribution, biotransformation, and elimination of the biologically active substance. The pharmaceutical availability is a test of technological correctness for the dosage form too. Basic acceptor fluids do not reflect the conditions in the particular parts of the alimentary tract. There are no fluids possessing the solubilizing properties of the duodenal content either. The present study evaluates the possibility of using oxyethylated cholesterol in the homologous series n10, n20, n30, n40 as a potential ingredient of the model acceptor fluid.
