Gathering and storage of medicinal plant raw material. Crude drugs may be prepared from wild or cultivated plants. The method of production is largely determined by economic factors. It is also influenced by environmental considerations. The crude drug which reaches the pharmaceutical manufacturing line will have passed through many various stages. They all influence the nature and amount of active constituents present in the raw material. The aspects of collecting and harvesting medicinal plants, rules and methods of collection, drying process as one of preservation of plant material and storage of crude drugs are considered.
