Utilization of chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques for analysis of pharmacopoeial substances and preparations
Chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques belong to most advanced, powerful and popular tools in analytical chemistry. The aim of this work was to verify extent of utilization of these techniques in current Polish Pharmacopoeia VIII (equivalent to European Pharmacopoeia 6.0-6.2). All possible separation techniques in these groups: HPLC, TLC, GC, SEC, PC, UPLC, SFC, CE and PE were considered. Three most important methods: HPLC, TLC and GC were also analyzed in aspect of mode of detection. The recommended analytical procedures were divided into those engaged to identification, determination and purity assessment. Results were compared with historical data (second edition of European Pharmacopoeia) and some concrete future deductions were performed.
