Phytoestrogens are an interesting object of researches, due to their significance in a treatment of menopausal symptoms. Fenugreek seeds are partially included to a group of plants containing phytoestrogens. However, a relevance of this herbal drug as a source of phytoestrogens is controversial. Therefore in this report we present results of researches, that focused on potential hormone-like activity of fenugreek seeds and diosgenin, that is a main component of steroid saponins fraction. Performed review of literature date has clearly showed that, uncontrolled intake of fenugreek seeds may expose patient to a risk of hormonal imbalance.
