Metionina - rola fizjologiczna i toksyczność
2007-01-16

Methionine - phisiological role and toxicity. Methionine is indispensable amino acid, required for proteinsyntesis and the production of S-adenosylmethionine. Methionine residues can act as antioxidant. However, dietary excess of methionine causes toxic changes. Homocysteine is a metabolic product of methyl group donation by the amino acid methionine. Homocysteine may produce vascular damage, including increased oxidant stress, endothelial dysfunction.
