This article is devoted to presenting the characteristics of the naturally occurring polysaccharide polymers such a chitin and chitosan and derivatives in terms of their use as cell scaffolds in tissue engineering and the manufacture of biological dressings. The article described the unique features that make polymers valuable material for medicine and pharmacy.
