Evaluation of in vitro release correlates to the ability of diffusion of the medical agents from formulation to the point of acting. Diffusion of the medical agents from vehiculum depend on physicochemical properties of the substances, type of vehiculum (lipophylic, hydrophilic), and skin absorption enhancers. Hydrogels made on Carbopol 980 and hydroxyethylcellulose base and industrial cremes were examined. In vitro release of clotrimazole from hydrogels made on Carbopol 980 and hydroxyethylcellulose base was higher than from selected cremes. The influence of the tensides on the increased of clotrimazole released in hydrogels proportionately to its concentration was also observed.
