In recent years mesoporous materials which have unique pore size, high surface area and pore volume, have been widely used as carriers for controlled drug delivery.

In this paper we present the characteristics of ordered mesoporous materials (OMMs) and the recent information on the perspective of OMMs application as the new generation of drug delivery systems. Additionally some data on their toxicity have been reported.
