Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal, which is widely used in industry, affecting human health. Chronic exposure to Cd results in accumulation of the metal in many organs, mainly in the liver and kidneys. It exerts multiple toxic effects causing metabolic and histological changes in cells.
