Oszczędności w szpitalu. Pracownia przygotowywania leków cytostatycznych. (Czy to się opłaca?)
2010-02-10

As a result of the Act of 2001 on Pharmaceutical Law, hospitals with oncology wards began establishing cytostatic preparation units within hospital pharmacies. One of the tasks of such units is pharmacoeconomical evaluation and optimization of cytostatic drugs management. An inevitable problem of cytostatic compounding is wasting unused amounts of drugs, which have to be utilized and the expenditure on these drugs is included in hospital operating costs. In the publication the cytostatic drug waste costs resulting from compounding cytostatics in the cytostatic unit of hospital pharmacy and in hospital wards were compared. Furthermore the distribution of both the number and the costs of cytostatic preparations among the recipients i.e. the wards of the University Hospital in Krakow were presented. The analysis focuses only on the costs of drugs in the first quarter of 2009.
