Glycoglycerolipids are predominant lipids in chloroplast where they play a fundamental role in photosynthesis. Different classes of glycoglycerolipids have also been found in procaryotic cells and animal tissues. The biological functions, occurence and distribution of glycoglycerolipids are an area of great interest and investigation. Recent studies have revealed their antifungal, antitumor, antibacterial, antileishmanial and antiinflammatory activity.Keywords: glycoglycerolipids, antitumour activity, anti-inflammatory activity.
