Phytochemical analysis of iridoids, phytosterols and triterpenes. In this paper the general principles and specific methods of phytochemical analysis of iridoids, phytosterols and triterpenes are considered. For each class we give a brief summary of the characteristic structural features, biological activity and applications. The predominant methods for preliminary screening, isolation and purification are outlined.
