White blood cell disorders - acute leukaemias. In the past few decades an immense progress has been made in the understanding of the biology of haematological malignancies. Introduction of hematopoetic stem cell transplantation in the treatment of leukaemia has made novel tools in eradication of this life-threatening disease and has made a complete recovery of the patient within reach. All that spectacular progress would not be possible without a marked advancement in pharmaceutical technologies. This paper contains a brief overview of the contemporary strategies in the treatment of patients with acute leukaemia.
